Intertech Media is a US based company specializing in managing and scaling large-scale WordPress multisite installations, supporting over 1000 sites with high traffic demands. Our mission is to optimize performance, security, and scalability while ensuring a seamless development workflow. We are seeking a WordPress Technical Lead to provide hands-on technical expertise, guide our PHP development team, and introduce modern best practices for WordPress plugin development, cloud-based optimization, and secure coding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of complex and large-scale web development projects, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, testing, security, and performance
- Lead the design and implementation of the WordPress multisite network, and guide project teams on technical specifications and system documentation
- Code, test, and deploy features, translating user requirements into robust solutions
- Evaluate, approve, and oversee plugin updates, custom plugin development, and feature implementations.
- Proactively manage the stability, security, and performance of the websites
- Develop and execute test plans, monitor website uptime, and optimize site load times
- Provide mentorship and guidance to developers to ensure adherence to best coding practices.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement efficient solutions.
- Implement security best practices in custom plugins, themes, and WordPress core configurations.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to identify and address security vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
- Establish and maintain version control best practices across repositories.
- Work closely with Product & Project Managers to align technical initiatives with business goals.
- Foster collaboration between development, QA, and DevOps teams to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
- Research and implement emerging technologies and best practices for performance optimization and security enhancements.
- Plan for the scalability of the WordPress multisite architecture to accommodate future growth.
- Stay updated on the latest WordPress, PHP, and AWS developments to continuously improve infrastructure and development practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for the WordPress network and development workflows, and establish coding standards.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in PHP web development with a strong focus on WordPress required
- Expertise inWordPress Multisite and MySQL.
- Expert skills in front-end and back-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side languages like PHP, NodeJs, or Python and other relevant technologies
- Strong experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancer, and auto-scaling strategies.
- Proficiency in Git, version control best practices, and CI/CD pipeline management.
- Deep knowledge of security best practices, including WordPress hardening techniques, AWS Shield, and secure coding principles.
- Understand local development environments, debugging workflows, and simulating large-scale site conditions locally.
- Hands-on experience with plugin development, PHP compatibility upgrades, and large-scale WordPress deployments.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor development teams.
