Overview
A Technical Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT and engineering systems. They work closely with clients, internal teams, and vendors to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Provide on-site and remote support for technical problems.
- Log and track support tickets in ITSM tools.
- System Installation & Configuration
- Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and applications.
- Set up and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ensure proper integration of hardware and software systems.
- Network & Server Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain servers, network infrastructure, and cloud systems.
- Perform regular security updates and patch management.
- Support LAN, WAN, and VPN configurations.
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct system and software testing to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify bugs, troubleshoot errors, and suggest improvements.
- Document test results and provide reports.
- Customer & Vendor Interaction
- Assist clients with technical queries and provide training when needed.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware replacements and software licensing.
- Ensure SLA (Service Level Agreement) compliance.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
- Prepare reports on system performance and issue resolutions.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and networking.
- Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Understanding of IT security protocols and firewalls.
- Familiarity with cloud computing & virtualization (AWS, Azure, VMware).
- Basic knowledge of scripting & automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication & customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: B.Tech, B.E., MCA, Diploma in IT/Computer Science.
- Certifications: CCNA, MCSA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, ITIL.
- Experience: 1-5 years in a technical support or engineering role.
