Technical Lead (Shopify)

The Role

As the Technical Lead, you will be responsible for the overall managing & supporting customers Shopify implementations. You will also contribute to technical strategy, architectural design, and execution of Shopify projects.This role will focus on driving customer engagement, managing pre-sales initiatives, and growing a high-performing team to deliver exceptional Shopify solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with Shopify, extensive experience in e-commerce strategy, and a proven ability to build and lead technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shopify Practice Leadership:
  • Establish and lead the Shopify & Shopify Plus practice, setting technical direction, best practices, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Shopify solutions with other business systems and platforms.
• Project Oversight & Delivery:
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Shopify projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
  • Implement project management best practices, tools, and processes to improve project outcomes.
• Customer Engagement:
  • Serve as the technical face for clients during pre-sales, pitching innovative Shopify solutions and strategies.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand client requirements, challenges, and business objectives.
• Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a talented team of developers, designers, and engineers to deliver Shopify projects with a high standard of quality.
  • Ensure the technical team is equipped with the right tools, knowledge, and best practices to support clients' Shopify needs.
• Others (Pre-Sales & Continuous Improvement)
  • Provide technical expertise in pre-sales engagements, including solution design, estimates, proposals, and presentations.
  • Stay up to date on the latest Shopify trends, features, and APIs, and identify opportunities to enhance service offerings.
  • Champion the continuous improvement of internal processes, coding standards, and tools to drive operational efficiency and technical excellence.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6+ years of experience working with Shopify & Shopify Plus in a technical leadership role.
• In-depth understanding of the Shopify platform, including Shopify APIs, Liquid, and front-end/back-end development.
• Experience in building custom Shopify themes, integrations with third-party systems (ERP, CRM), and plugins development.
• Strong grasp of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with modern development frameworks, tools, and CI/CD practices.
• Proven experience building and managing technical teams, with strong mentoring and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong client-facing skills with experience leading pre-sales and technical discussions with enterprise-level clients.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Shopify Expert or Shopify Plus Partner certification.
