About The Role

We, at ThoughtSpot, are looking for an Engineering Lead to lead and grow the team based out of Bangalore. Come join a team of world-class engineers building Thoughtspot’s data modeling platform. ThoughtSpot's data modeling platform is a semantic layer that hides the complexity of the schema of relational databases from the search engine. This semantic layer is a very high performance, programmable, highly expressive and is the reason why ThoughtSpot's search is so simple yet powerful. This team also owns, ThoughtSpot Modeling Language, TML in short, which is a powerful modeling language to empower developers and data engineers to build data models and share it as reusable SpotApps in our App Marketplace. As we build new applications for ThoughtSpot and with growth in users and usage, the demand for new and a diverse set of data modeling capabilities for different customer needs sets us on an exciting journey to redefine and re-architect our modeling layer.

In this role, you will be a hands-on technical leader responsible to manage a team that designs, builds and scales features to deliver automated insights, to help millions of business-people make smarter decisions.

What You'll Do

• Manage and mentor backend engineers to be more effective at their work and grow their careers.
• Drive the quality and stability of the product by getting hands-on as required with code, design and test plan reviews, and debugging distributed systems issues
• Build a culture of operational excellence with a focus on observability, performance, scalability, cloud cost and security.
• Collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams of designers, engineers, product managers, SREs, customer success executives.
  
  

Required Skills/qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with at least 2+ years of experience in people management and 5 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing high-performance distributed systems and real-time systems of data processing.
• Experience with setting high standards of software quality, operational excellence and customer centricity.
• Experience in programming languages C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• Experience with tools like kafka, elastic search, k8s, spark or their managed cloud offerings.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and infrastructure, preferably in a high release velocity/startup environment, is a plus.
  
  

What You Bring

Are an engineer at heart and crave putting imagination into action. You likely have 10+ years of experience crafting world-class 1.0 products of complexity and building robust, high-performance and intelligent systems for them with a B.Tech/M.tech in CS.

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing high-performance distributed systems and real-time systems of data processing.
• Experience with setting high standards of software quality, operational excellence and customer centricity.
• Experience in programming languages C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• Experience with tools like kafka, elastic search, k8s, spark or their managed cloud offerings.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and infrastructure, preferably in a high release velocity/startup environment, is a plus.
• Love building and leading exceptional cross-geo teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You have a strong bias for action and being resourceful
• Are obsessed with the customer experience and uncompromising engineering standards
