We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Senior Consultant Specialist.

I

n this role, you will:

• Unix Systems Administrator for a DevOps infrastructure delivery role; configuring, delivering and supporting Linux environments and services.
• Responsible for implementation of new technologies and the on-going support of hardware and software solutions across both live and non-live environments.
• Deliver and provide technical support conforming to high quality standards and best practices, maintaining and improving SLAs, and always ensuring compliance to HSBC policies.
• Prioritise and execute Infrastructure automation to reduce repetitive tasks and standardise our Unix environments.
• Advise on Unix/Linux design, development and best practices throughout project lifecycles from build through IT Service Acceptance and Go-Live.
• Write code to automate and streamline BAU tasks. Building automation capabilities to support the execution of operational activities.
• Draft and maintain standards and procedures for service component capacity management. Ensures the correct implementation of standards and procedures.
• Pro-actively review information in conjunction with service level agreements to identify any capacity issues and specify any required changes. Work with application teams to agree and implement short and medium term modifications to demand.
• Assess, analyse, develop, document and implement changes based on requests for change. Understanding of functional requirements and translation into technical specifications
• Provide troubleshooting support on incidents and perform root cause analysis to prevent problems reoccurring. Appropriate measures are taken to improve and sustain high quality and prevent recurrence.
• Provide consultancy, guidance and collaborate with other infrastructure, application, support and engineering teams.
• Offer technical support and training to application teams
  
  

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

• Proficiency in Linux server admin skills (i.e., RHEL), 5 years’ experience is a must. SLES is desirable. Should possess industry standard certifications for UNIX domain.
• Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and architecture, including knowledge of volume managers, multi-pathing and kernel parameter tuning.
• Experienced in Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Experience in Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform
• Experience of DevOps tools and configuration management (Ansible / Puppet).
• Demonstrable experience of scripting (shell / Perl / Python) and tools (Jenkins, Git) to deliver automation.
• Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting of Veritas Volume manager and Veritas Cluster Server is required.
• Strong infrastructure background with experience with IBM and HP x86 hardware and virtualisation platforms (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of storage infrastructure with experience of configuring filesystems on NAS storage and EMC SAN solutions, both standalone and clustered, including replication.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure (Cisco, TCP/UDP, LAN/WAN, GSS, F5, VIPs, Firewalls).
• Significant experience of working in a major enterprise environment and or experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g., Financial Services.
• Experience of InfuxDB/Grafana, Geneos, Splunk, Elasticstack, or similar monitoring tools
