Overview
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate Degree or Diploma in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a System Administrator (Sysadmin).
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Active Directory administration.
- Ability to effectively respond to help desk requests.
- Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage system infrastructure, including databases, testing computer equipment, firewalls, malware, and other software and hardware.
- Collaborate with infrastructure staff to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of all systems.
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues.
- Monitor the system daily and respond promptly to any security breaches or usability concerns.
- Perform regular backups of systems and verify completion.
- Conduct system upgrades as needed.
- Assist in the integration of new applications and technologies into the current system.
User Administration
Functions range from managing identities and access to dedicated technical support for individual users.
User permissions and administration for all applications and services. Can assign and manage user roles, allowing everyone access to certain applications and services in a secure way.
System Maintenance
Troubleshoot and fix issues that compromise system performance, routine system upgrades, end-user-based upgrades, etc.
Documentation & Managing files
To maintain usage of IT assets and documenting IT issues, end user requests etc
To ensure security from external attacks and ensure appropriate, easy access to files for employees.
Backup
Make it easier for end users to access deleted or unavailable data (by implementing automated software solutions)
Activity involve - Replacing hardware and software components
Installation & Patching
Responsible for managing, troubleshooting, licensing and updating hardware and software assets.
Active Directory Management
Manage all aspects of the domain, including users, groups, and computer accounts within the domain. Common tasks such as creating, modifying, etc. on a common domain network.
Problem solving
Troubleshooting and understanding key systems are essential.
Database
Responsible for maintaining the integrity, performance and effectiveness of database systems. Liaise with users to resolve database related issues including backup and restoration activities.
Network
To ensure stable operation of computer networks. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and upgrading all network hardware and communication links.
