Job Description And Responsibilities

As a Staff Data Engineer in the Data & AI Platform team, you will design, enhance, and build solutions dealing with batch and real-time data in a fast-paced environment. We believe in self-managing Agile teams who build products end to end focusing on unit testing, code reviews and continuous integration for excellent code quality.

As a team of passionate and dedicated engineers, we are the backbone for Data Engineering & Machine Learning developments at Visa. We analyze, optimize, and automate the whole nine yards of the ML process and cover a wide spectrum of models deployed across the globe!

What You Will Do

You will leverage your out of the box thinking to implement effective and efficient solutions for our users. You will use your strong technical background in designing, implementing, engineering, and optimizing our machine learning platform and products in a fast-paced environment. You will guide team, build and push code into production and understand the importance of performance, testability, and maintainability.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification

• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2
  
  

years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,

MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work

experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Data Infrastructure, AI OR ML.
• Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning Platform
  
  

infrastructure or building and productionizing Machine Learning models.

• Proficient in cloud computing and data processing infrastructure and tools:
  
  

Kubernetes, Airflow or equivalent, Spark, Hive, SQL.

• Proficient in some of the ML training and deployment frameworks like:
  
  

Tensorflow, PyTorch, Ray etc.

• Good understanding of Machine Learning best practices on training, serving,
  
  

skew minimization, A or B test, feature engineering, model selection. Working

knowledge on ML algorithms like gradient boosted trees, neural networks or

deep learning, optimization.

• Good understanding of features that help Platform to keep up with the latest
  
  

advancement of generative AI and large language models.

• Strong ownership and ability to lead project end to end. Good communicator,
  
  

both to technical and business audiences.

• Ability to work in multicultural, cross functional team, and to deal with
  
  

ambiguity in business and technology.
