Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role Part of Pre-Transactions Risk Engineering team and Responsible to architect and design real time / near real time, low latency, highly scalable, highly available and complex software solutions across various Fraud and Risk domains. Work Closely with Architects across domains to design and deliver complex products. Mentor a team of engineers and lead engineers and support them by reviewing and testing their solutions. Meet our team Pre-Transaction Risk Engineering team is responsible for Risk decisions, fraud detection, risk management decision and compute services across PayPal during multiple stages of customer lifecycle. We design, develop, enhance and support services that get called across every interaction between PayPal and it's users and partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, working with petabyte plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. To achieve this we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs. To help with this, we are always looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way. Our engineers build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a deep understanding of business processes, risk and fraud domains.

• Own the design, development and deployment of risk application and services.
• Participate actively and solution architecture that involve multiple systems.
• Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
• Drive integration efforts and lead critical work streams of strategic initiatives.
• Drive engineering excellence.
• Pro-active response in identifying and troubleshooting integration or technical issues.
• Drive engineering excellency by creating reusable, production-ready frameworks.

What do you need to bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
• 14+ years’ experience building software or web applications with object oriented or functional programming languages.
• Expert knowledge in React, Mobile Frameworks, Java, REST
• Familiarity with other languages and technologies development like databases, python
• Experience in various architecture design patterns, design, and implementation of Financial Systems/Platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to scope, create and successfully deploy new strategy/ initiatives / capabilities.
• A deep understanding of data structures, object-oriented design, and algorithms.
• Experience working with large-scale, highly available, and distributed systems.
• Experience developing automated unit, integration, and functional tests, preferably in a Java environment using tools like JUnit, Mockito, or Spring Test.
• Competent in software engineering tools (e.g. Java build tools) and best practices (e.g. unit testing, test automation, continuous integration, etc.) with experience in using build and deployment tools to streamline and automate the development lifecycle.
• Experience to interact with engineering teams from multiple geo-locations.
• Should have good communication skills.
• Expertise in online payments and related domains is a plus
