Job Purpose:

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Data Scientist will leverage expertise in data science methodologies, tools, and techniques to support research, academic projects, and industry collaborations. The SME will provide advanced technical insights, mentor teams, and develop innovative data-driven solutions to address complex challenges across various domains.

Key Responsibilities:

Expert Consultation and Technical Guidance:

• Act as a trusted advisor and provide in-depth technical knowledge on data science methodologies, machine learning models, and AI applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data-driven requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

Data Analysis and Modeling:

• Analyze large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights and patterns.
• Build predictive and prescriptive models to solve real-world and research problems.

Research and Innovation:

• Conduct cutting-edge research on emerging trends in data science and AI.
• Develop and publish technical papers, whitepapers, or thought leadership content in the field of data science.

Mentoring and Training:

• Provide mentorship to junior data scientists, research associates, and students.
• Conduct workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities to build internal capabilities.

Development of Tools and Solutions:

• Design and implement data pipelines, machine learning frameworks, and advanced analytics tools.
• Ensure scalability, reproducibility, and quality assurance of developed solutions.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Liaise with academic institutions, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to support collaborative projects.
• Translate business and academic objectives into technical solutions and actionable outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong academic or research credentials in data science, machine learning, and AI.

Experience:

• 1+ to 3+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on advanced research or applied projects.
• Proven track record of delivering impactful data science solutions or academic publications.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python, R*, SQL, SPSS, C, and C++*.
• Expertise in Matlab and advanced data science tools.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Deep understanding of advanced statistical methods, data modeling, and optimization.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Strong database management skills, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
