Job requirements
The role is to provide data services (data, interfaces and reports) developer expertise and support to client implementations and day-to-day operations of systems for internal and external clients in an efficient and professional manner.This role also includes leadership within the Developer community for technical matters and to support knowledge transfers and mentorship across the team.
Essential parts of the role:
- Meeting the business requirements and implementation needs of clients in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with any agreed standards and procedures.
- Expand their knowledge within their discipline by working with internal and external colleagues.
- Identification and analysis of data queries to ensure data is held correctly for all workstreams.
- Where appropriate, requirements gathering and documentation from initiation phase and throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Working with your peers and our internal and external clients to understand their requirements, and produce formal technical documentation of solutions developed.
- To be able to create and maintain technical and deterministic models to help understand the impact of changes and to create test scenarios.
- Work with relevant stakeholders/teams to identify functional changes to our core products, standard tools and processes that are required to ensure business needs are met and to ensure these are formally documented.
- Provide support and mentoring to colleagues within the wider Technology Solutions teams.
- Support the Technical Data Team Leader in driving best practice within the discipline.
- Taking opportunities to lead development of client solutions or standards, tools and framework through technical forums or client projects.
- Utilisation of SQL as a tool for problem solving complex issues.
- Proactively identifying solutions to optimise and improve performance across all applications and services.
Title: Senior Implementations Data Services Developer (SQL)

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Strategy
- Assist with improving & standardization of processes, tools and documentation for all “Data” related deliverables.
- Actively share and document knowledge to reduce key person risks across Implementations and wider teams to enable self service with Pensions Admin UK.
- Collaborate with the core product and development teams to identify and help with delivering cross-departmental improvements for Pensions Admin UK.
- Pursue innovation ideas to improve efficiency across our services.
Delivery
- Working with your team leader to ensure the quality of all the implementation services meet the required quality criteria and is delivered to time and within budget.
- Be aware of work that may not be included in the fee agreements for clients, escalating any change in scope appropriately.
Execution
- Understand the business requirements and develop / code the necessary client configurations. This could be across single or multiple disciplines i.e. Data, Reports and Interfaces etc.
- Document work to enable others to pick it up if necessary.
- Document developments and participate in the drafting of specification, test packs and user guides.
- Produce neat, dated, referenced and fully documented work which is easily checkable and can be followed up at a late date.
- Work in a logical and disciplined manner.
- Ensure that all deliveries are fully reviewed prior to completion.
- Maintain an understanding of changes to pensions legislation that may impact the functionality of our products / systems and processes / procedures.
- Provide regular work in progress updates to the Implementations Teams / Project Manager.
- Make a positive contribution to the productivity, efficiency and morale of the team.
Governance and control
- Identify and advise on areas where improvements to existing systems, processes and procedures can be achieved and will bring efficiencies to improve productivity.
- Identify problems or deficiencies in documentation and propose and implement solutions.
- Maintain an accurate record of working time through Jira and Time Recording Engine.
- Adhere to all relevant company and departmental procedures.
- Attend any relevant internal or external training course to ensure personal development.
Stakeholders
- Help maintain the business users through their UAT cycle.
- Participate actively in team/departmental meetings and any technical forums.
- Active collaboration with stakeholders, working with teams across multiple locations and departments.
- Build and maintain internal relationships to ensure knowledge/skill sharing and reporting.
- Provide technical and specialist support for other members of the team.
- Coach and mentor colleagues where appropriate.
- Peer review work produced by colleagues for quality and accuracy. Confirm the understanding of team members ensuring work is carried out competently.
- Assist the Implementations Team Leader / Project Manager in the day-to-day management of the team as requested
Experience and Education Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum of 4 years experience in Data Implementations and Development SQL
- SQL Server 2019/2020, MS SQL Script (Store Procedure/View/complex queries) -
- SSIS SQL Server Integration Services
- SSRS SQL Server Reporting Services
- Data Warehouse Data Migration Projects ETL Methodology ( Extract Transform Load) Data Mining – Mandatory
- Informatica – Secondary
- Pension Domain is good to have
- Good communications skills who can collaborate with global team.
- Excellent technical skills and ability to work within prescribed frameworks and timescales.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think laterally.
- Attention to detail.
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to producing high quality work within the prescribed frameworks.

Desirable: - Familiarity within the Employee Benefits and/or Life & Pensions industries.
- Familiarity with pensions administration software. Understands the methodologies used in a software development and support environment e.g. Agile, Waterfall, ITIL.

Technical:
- Good knowledge of product/applications and implementation processes.
- Developer qualification or evidence to support individual discipline, this could be but not limited to; Informatica, VBA, VB.Net, SQL, C#, PowerShell, SSIS, SSRS
- Identification and management of Change control.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft suite and other analytical applications.
- Represent the team/department as subject matter expert on a wide range of projects.
