Software Test Engineer

As a Software Test Engineer you are responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications through rigorous testing processes. They work closely with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to identify, report, and resolve software defects. Below is a detailed job description:

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Design:

• Analyze requirements and specifications to create detailed test plans and test cases.
• Develop and maintain test documentation, including test scripts and checklists.

Execution of Test Cases:

• Perform manual testing of software applications to ensure functionality, usability, and reliability.
• Test various aspects of the application, such as user interface, database, APIs, and performance.
• Execute regression, functional, integration, and system testing.

Bug Reporting and Tracking:

• Identify, document, and report software defects using bug-tracking tools like Jira, Bugzilla, or Trello.
• Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and validate fixes.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the development team, product managers, and QA leads to ensure proper resolution of bugs.
• Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and review sessions.

Quality Assurance:

• Validate that the software meets business and user requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, processes, and best practices.

Test Environment Management:

• Set up and manage test environments as required.
• Verify test data for consistency and accuracy.

Reporting:

• Generate detailed reports on test activities, including coverage and defect metrics.
• Provide feedback to improve product design and user experience.

Skills and Qualifications

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing lifecycle (STLC).
• Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail, Zephyr, or TestLink.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for database testing.
• Understanding of API testing concepts and tools like Postman (optional).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Experience

• 0–2 years of experience in software testing or a related field.
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies is a plus.
• Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Java, Python) for future automation testing transition is an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
