The Platform team is the bedrock of Instabase, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core systems that power our entire product suite. This includes our workflow orchestration and execution engine, federated data management (databases and filesystems), tools management, and connectors for seamless integration with external systems that LLMs can directly plug into. Our work enables other engineering teams to build applications on top, ultimately helping our customers automate complex processes and derive insights from unstructured data.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform Team, you will be responsible for:

• Designing robust platform systems for high-quality data ingestion pipelines tailored for Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Developing and enhancing core platform components to facilitate the efficient and accurate parsing of complex documents, ultimately producing high-fidelity, LLM-ready inputs.
• Rigorously benchmarking the performance and accuracy of data ingestion and processing components within the platform to ensure they meet state-of-the-art standards.
• Interfacing with other engineering teams to ensure the features you own are integrated with downstream and upstream systems.
• Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to improving stability through testing and other initiatives.
• Setting the direction for not only your team but the entire engineering organization.
• Improving the company through mentorship, interviewing, and new initiatives.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in backend or systems software engineering, with a proven track record of building and operating complex, scalable software systems, particularly data-intensive applications or platforms.
• Technical Depth: Strong proficiency in systems programming concepts (concurrency, distributed systems, networking) and experience with languages like Python, Go, Java, or C++.
• Problem Solving & Benchmarking: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. A rigorous, data-driven approach to performance analysis and benchmarking complex systems is essential.
• AI/ML & Unstructured Data Focus: Strong background or demonstrated interest in building infrastructure that supports AI/ML workloads. Specific experience or keen interest in handling complex, unstructured data (like documents) and optimizing systems for preparing high-quality, accurate inputs for models (especially LLMs) is highly desirable.
• Startup Mentality: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment, navigating ambiguity, effectively collaborating, and driving impactful results with a focus on achieving state-of-the-art performance.
• Strong communication skills and experience working effectively with cross-functional engineering and product teams.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model based out of our Bangalore, India office.
