Software Engineer (Node.js & AWS)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Node.js Backend Developer with 4+ years of experience in building scalable, enterprise-level applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS services. As an integral part of the development team, you will design, develop, and deploy backend applications utilizing AWS cloud technologies. You will also contribute to architectural decisions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure applications are optimized for performance, scalability, and portability across environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Node.js (TypeScript) applications and microservices on AWS using services like EventBridge, Lambda, API Gateway, and more.

• Utilize AWS services (EC2, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch) to build cloud-native solutions ensuring high performance, scalability, and availability.

• Develop containerized solutions using Docker and AWS ECS/ECR, promoting portability and cloud-agnostic deployments.

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs integrated with AWS cloud services.

• Contribute to the design of new features and ensure applications are scalable, portable, and maintainable.

• Troubleshoot and optimize cloud-based applications for better performance.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions using AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party tools.

• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable TypeScript code following industry best practices.

• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and advocate for coding best practices.

• Stay current on new AWS services and industry best practices, applying them to your development work.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: 4+ years in Node.js and TypeScript development, with a solid understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.

• Node.js Frameworks: Proficiency in frameworks such as Express.js, Nest.js, or similar Node.js-based frameworks.

• TypeScript Expertise: Strong understanding of TypeScript, including type definitions, interfaces, and decorators to build maintainable code.

• AWS Services: Experience working with AWS services like EC2, EventBridge, VPC, API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, and S3 for cloud-native application development.

• AWS Containers: Hands-on experience with Docker for containerization, and familiarity with AWS Elastic Container Registry (ECR) and Elastic Container Services (ECS).

• Microservices: Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and building RESTful APIs integrated with AWS services.

• Databases: Experience with relational databases e.g. MS SQL.

• Version Control: Proficiency with Git for version control.

• Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills in cloud environments.

• Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.

Good-to-have Skills:

• Testing Frameworks: Experience with unit testing frameworks like Mocha, Chai, Jest, or similar for automated testing.

• Monitoring & Logging: Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools such as AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry, or third-party integrations.

• CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or similar, to automate deployment processes.

• Security: Knowledge of AWS security best practices, including IAM roles, policies, encryption techniques, and securing AWS resources.

• Knowledge on Java, Spring Boot.
