Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of your code, from development and testing to deployment and maintenance. You will take ownership of projects within your team, contribute to improving engineering practices, and participate in on-call rotations to support production systems. This role requires technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and collaboration within small to medium sized teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution and Ownership

• Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle for small features, including development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ensure software is scalable, maintainable, and performant while following best practices.
• Implement bug fixes and performance improvements proactively.

Project Management and Delivery

• Successfully deliver small features within the team, ensuring high-quality and timely execution.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including Product and QA, to align on project goals.
• Proactively identify and address bottlenecks and blockers.

Technical Excellence

• Suggest and implement best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment strategies.
• Maintain a high-level understanding of other components in the system.

Collaboration and Mentorship

• Perform code reviews that follow best practices and provide constructive feedback.
• Help maintain high coding standards and ensure adherence to team-wide development practices.
• Recognise when to ask for help to unblock progress and seek guidance effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Expertise

Proficiency in:

• Programming Languages: Typescript (must), Python
• Infrastructure & Deployment: Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• APIs & Integration: HTTP APIs, event-driven architectures
• Frameworks: React, Remix
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working with modern software development practices (CI/CD, testing, monitoring)

Collaboration and Communication

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
• Ability to perform thorough and constructive code reviews
• Knows when to ask for help and proactively seeks guidance to stay unblocked

Problem-Solving Skills

• Ability to analyze technical challenges and propose effective solutions
• Proactively looks for ways to improve code quality and system reliability

Preferred Experience

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on development and production support
• Experience working in a collaborative, agile development environment
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and distributed systems is a plus
