Role Purpose:

The Software Developer role is part of the Digital Services team with the primary objective of developing IT solutions for our business. These solutions will help improve the day-to-day operations of our business by supporting our staff and clients. The day-to-day activities of the role include defining, building, and implementing technology solutions using a range of technologies. These include Microsoft Office 365, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, as well as various other developer platforms. The role also requires a fundamental understanding of the IT landscape, including basic network knowledge, cloud services, security, and support services.

This role will provide you with a high degree of flexibility to solve problems and deliver solutions. You will work closely with the Digital Services Project Manager alongside the development team. An agile approach to delivery will help you prioritize your work and provide a collaborative approach to delivery. We take a very practical approach to our work and promote a culture of ‘less business case writing’ and more ‘getting stuff done’. This role will see you meeting with a variety of our staff members to help them improve in their roles through the use of technology. These improvements will vary from simple to complex. Your role includes helping staff members understand how to better use technology, and you will encourage them to become more self-reliant to improve efficiency. Beyond the day-to-day activities, you will be given the opportunity to implement your ideas and grow your working knowledge. Working as part of a small Digital Services team, you will have a unique opportunity to take ideas from ‘idea to delivery’.

The Scope:

As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting various digital solutions to meet business needs. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, design, and build solutions. You will also be required to provide ongoing support for the solutions built. You will be responsible for ensuring that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure and that they integrate effectively with other systems and platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement IT solutions using various technologies, such as Microsoft Office 365, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other developer platforms, to address specific business needs and requirements.
• Solution Design: Create technical specifications and design documents based on the gathered requirements to guide the development process and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Project Collaboration: Work alongside the Digital Services Project Manager and other members of the development team to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to project delivery. Adopt an agile methodology to prioritize tasks and achieve efficient outcomes.
• Scalability and Security: Ensure that the solutions are scalable to accommodate potential future growth and that they meet necessary security standards to protect sensitive data and information.
• Technology Guidance: Assist staff members in understanding and utilizing technology more effectively, encouraging self-reliance to improve overall efficiency and productivity.
• Knowledge Growth: Continuously improve personal expertise in relevant technologies and industry trends, staying up-to-date with advancements to provide the best solutions for the organization.
• Adherence to Standards: Follow established coding standards, best practices, and IT policies to maintain consistency and high-quality code.
