Senior Technical Lead- Java/C# (Remote)

Avalara is looking for a Senior Technical Lead to and oversee Global Registrations and Licenses organization. A successful you are a well-rounded, experienced technical lead with experience leading and allowing teams in the develop and testing of enterprise level software solutions.

Scalable and secure software solutions Harbor dependent technical expertise across multiple projects/teams

Collaborate with (Product, Engineering, Security) to establish solution specification and leverage deep technical knowledge to oversee execution

Analyze current solutions and procedures to identify holistic areas for improvement

Oversee and advocate for high technical standards

Lead the development of enterprise level engineering strategies

Provide support for junior engineers, promoting a culture of learning and professional growth within the organization (force multiplier, components of multiple teams, those around you)

Communicate problems/solutions with VPs and other members of senior management

Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure support for production systems. This includes troubleshooting and resolving critical issues outside of regular working hours, following the team's rotation schedule.

• Build Scalable Applications: Work with your team to design, scalable, and reliable full stack applications that integrate across Avalara's ecosystem.
• Architect with a Vision: Take our requirements and translate them into software designs and technical documentation. Hands-on Development & Collaboration: Write clean, maintainable code across the full stack (front-end, back-end, and databases). Conduct peer code reviews, participate in scoping exercises.
• Guide Innovation & Ownership: Take ownership of main areas of the platform, exploring new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to improve performance, usability, and automation.
• Balance Automation & Human Effort: Build efficient process automation solutions while understanding the limitations of technology.
• Mentor & Lead by Example: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing to engineers on the team, encouraging a culture of learning and improvement.

• You have experience delivering valuable, features into production.
• You know what's different about software designed for the cloud from on-premise, not because you read about it but because you've been knee-deep in SaaS.
• Expertise in application performance engineering and performance tuning with hands-on experience designing and implementing load, stress, spike, scalability, volume, endurance, and soak testing. Expertise on multiple tools like Load Runner, JMeter, Gatling, K6, Neoload, NewRelic, DynaTrace, AppDynamics and similar tools.
• Good experience analyzing Thread dumps, Heap dump and GC logs and performance tuning and providing recommendations to the development teams.
• Software development experience - While many parts of our solution are implemented using .NET and Java , we also have details of the product in node.js, python, and other technologies.
• As far as other technologies, we use Postgres, MySQL as our primary transactional RDBMS, and we are introducing many other cloud technologies Redis, Snowflake, and Prometheus.
• 12+ Years of experience in Engineering
• BE/B.Tech Education.
• Experience working and collaborating with multiple (Product, Program, Customer Support)
• Experience working within dispersed non co-located teams
• Experience in Agile methodologies and processes
• Experience working with JIRA
