Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Software test engineer, your primary responsibility will be to qualify new products and software enhancements to existing products as part of a cross functional team. You are required to verify and validate software changes for new products, enhancements and defects.
- Requirement Compliance: Verify that the software meets all specified requirements and satisfactorily addresses various customer use-cases.
- Automation Expertise: Proficient in automation, with strong knowledge of writing test scripts using C#, JScript, and other scripting languages.
- Test Planning and Execution: Prepare and execute test plans for software releases, document and automate test cases to exercise various software features and capabilities, and capture bugs and related information in the bug tracking database.
- Complex Test Case Development: Develop complex test cases, select test suites, and execute all necessary testing activities required for customer software releases, including negative and backward compatibility scenarios, per assignment, group objectives, and product requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the project/baseline manager and development team to understand the system architecture and design, and the interaction between various software sub-systems and components.
- Regression Testing: Document, enhance, and maintain regression test procedures throughout the software lifecycle.
- Customer Configuration Management: Manage customer system configuration and setup for new products/features and use software simulators to run customer scenarios for new products/features.
- Issue Resolution: Review and respond to software issues and questions, troubleshoot/validate issues reported from the field, and submit bug tracking reports.
- Project Management: Independently manage project schedules and deliverables, working seamlessly with all key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Consistently seek areas for improvement in all aspects of software product development and processes.
Experience, Skills and Educational Requirements:
- Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in C++, C#, or JScript is essential.
- Industrial Automation: Experience in industrial automation is highly desirable.
- Supervisory Control Systems: Prior experience with supervisory control systems software is advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in product software testing.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Information Science, or Electronics) with a strong background in industrial automation software.
- SDLC and QA: Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and Quality Assurance (QA) lifecycle and methodology.
- Test Automation: Knowledge of test automation and familiarity with automated testing tools is a must.
- Global Team Experience: Proven experience working in global teams and interfacing with multiple stakeholders.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with extended teams spread across the globe.
- Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated and eager to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
- Goal-Oriented: Ability to meet objectives, goals, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
