Senior Software Engineer- PHP|Remote

What You'll Do

Avalara helps businesses of all sizes achieve tax compliance through cloud-based solutions for sales and use tax, VAT, GST, excise, and other indirect taxes. Partnering with leading ERP, accounting, and e-commerce platforms, Avalara processes billions of tax transactions annually and files over a million compliance documents. Headquartered in Seattle, it has offices across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Belgium, Brazil, and India.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• You will Lead the design & development of major features of the product.
• You will Increase the current implementation for high scalability and availability
• You will Promote clean coding practices
• You will Perform code reviews in a zero-defect culture.
• You will Design and implement CI/CD for automated delivery
• You will Analyze and provide solutions for production issues.
• You will Learn new technologies. Help the team implement them.
• You will Participate in scrum/agile processes.
• You will Participate in department level engineering programs
• You will be reporting to Senior Manager - Engineering
• This is a remote role and you can work from the comfort of your home.
  
  

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in PHP development with a understanding of OOP (Object-Oriented Programming)
• Proficiency in modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter with an understanding of MVC architecture.
• Proficiency in working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools.
• Knowledge of security best practices to reduce vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, XSS, CSRF
• Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (preferably AWS),Docker, Kubernetes
• DB design and debugging skills (PostGre Sql, MySql, SQL Server)
• A Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a Master's, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working within an agile team is important
• Debugging skills
• Experience with object-oriented development and common design patterns
• Experience creating detailed technical documentation
