Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Automation Tester with strong expertise in TypeScript and Playwright to join our team in Bangalore or Pune. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end test automation frameworks while ensuring high software quality across web applications. This role requires a deep understanding of modern automation testing strategies and best practices to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Test Automation Development & Execution
Develop and maintain robust automation frameworks using TypeScript and Playwright.
Automate UI, API, and functional test cases to enhance test coverage.
Implement and execute end-to-end, regression, and integration test scripts across multiple browsers and devices.
Develop reusable test scripts, page objects, and custom Playwright utilities for enhanced efficiency.
2. Test Planning & Strategy
Define, develop, and maintain test automation strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps.
Design test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate application functionality, usability, and performance.
Ensure test scripts align with business requirements and product functionality.
Collaborate with the development team to ensure shift-left testing practices.
3. Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD)
Integrate automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI/CD).
Automate test execution within Agile/Scrum development cycles.
Maintain test reporting dashboards to track automation results and defects.
4. Debugging & Defect Management
Perform root cause analysis for test failures and log defects effectively.
Work closely with developers to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in automation scripts.
Maintain detailed test documentation, including test execution reports and defect tracking.
5. Performance & Cross-Browser Testing
Execute cross-browser testing using Playwright for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and WebKit.
Implement performance testing strategies using Playwright's tracing and reporting tools.
Conduct load, stress, and performance testing where required.
6. Collaboration & Agile Testing
Work in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, and designers).
Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure smooth collaboration.
Provide test estimations, risk analysis, and recommendations for process improvements.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Automation Frameworks: Strong hands-on experience with Playwright for web automation.
Programming Languages: Expertise in TypeScript & JavaScript for test automation.
Test Frameworks: Proficiency with Jest, Mocha, Chai, or similar test runners.
API Testing: Experience in API automation using Postman, RestAssured, or Playwright API testing.
CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD.
Version Control: Proficiency with Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket for source code management.
Cloud & Docker: Experience in executing automation tests in Docker containers and cloud-based environments.
Cross-Browser & Mobile Testing: Strong understanding of cross-browser and mobile automation strategies.
Reporting & Logging: Familiarity with Allure, Extent Reports, or Playwright's built-in reporting features.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments.
Proactive approach to test strategy, planning, and execution.
Good to Have (Preferred Skills):
Experience in Cypress, Selenium, or WebDriverIO for automation testing.
Knowledge of Performance Testing tools like JMeter or Playwright Trace Viewer.
Hands-on with AI-based test automation tools.
Familiarity with GraphQL API testing.
Cloud testing experience with BrowserStack, SauceLabs, or LambdaTest.
