Job Description
The Shift-Based Software Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting software systems during assigned shifts. This role is part of a team providing 24/7 operational support, ensuring that critical systems remain functional and perform efficiently. The engineer will respond to incidents, implement fixes, and collaborate with other teams to ensure the reliability and availability of software services, troubleshoot and analyze intermediate to complex technical coding issues submitted by internal/cross-team or external customers.

Key Responsibilities:
Incident Management: Respond to system alerts, diagnose issues, and resolve or escalate them in a timely manner(as per SLA/TAT) to minimize downtime. Create and update documentation related to incidents, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.
Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuously and proactive monitor solution performance, logs, and alarms. Implement routine checks and maintenance tasks.
Troubleshooting & Debugging: Investigate solution code or software for the reported problems. Provide timely solutions or workarounds for issues affecting system performance or issues causing system downtime.
System Optimization: Suggest improvements in processes, tools, and software configurations to enhance performance and reliability.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth handoffs and coordinated efforts during issue resolution.
Support & Communication: Act as the point of contact for production issues during shifts, keeping stakeholders informed about system statuses and incident resolution.

Basic skills:
- Good knowledge on SQL & Database programming that includes below competencies – preference is M/S SQL Server (TSQL)
- Database Design & Optimization: Designed and maintained complex database schemas, implemented indexing strategies, and optimized queries, resulting in increased system performance.
- T-SQL Expertise: Developed and optimized stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to handle large and complex datasets.
- Performance Tuning: Utilized tools like SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and execution plans to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, reducing query response times.
- Good understanding of ETL process and Data Warehouse concepts.
- Experience of working on MSBI tools - SSAS, SSRS, SSIS
- Reporting tools like SAP Business Objects- crystal reports, WEBI reports, Universe, BO administration

- Availability for on-call duty during off-hours, as required. Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
