Job Overview:
The Senior IT Pillar Specialist uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the IT Pillar discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the IT Pillar discipline. They solve complex problems and use their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior IT Pillar Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the IT Pillar team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Aid with technical requirements gathering and client meetings and implementing new SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) build.
- Maintain the SPP&ID reference database for projects including transfers, reports, MTO downloads, data integrity, etc. including the customization of reports as per project requirements
- Trouble-shoot and solve P&ID problems to ensure project integrity
- Develop detailed project work instructions for users
- SPPID Administration including creating symbology, filters, reports, system maintenance, etc. Produce setup documentation detailing the SPP&ID setup
- Follow department and client drafting methods and standards
- Create auditing requirements and checking for quality assurance of the design effort
- Maintain and verify daily backup routines
- Help develop automation enhancements
- Design accurate system drawings, in a given time period, adjusting to project requirements
- Intergraph Certified SmartPlant P&ID Designer/System Administrator is preferred
- 8-10+ years’ experience in providing engineering design application support in the Oil and Gas/Petro Chemical Industry
- 5 years’ experience in the use, administration and support of SPP&ID
- Strong aptitude for project planning and implementation of new design software
- Knowledge of VB (.NET or 6) Programming and MSSQL queries will be considered as an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills is a must have to effectively work with the engineering disciplines
- Has the ability to effectively conduct training sessions to new users
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation, and CAD support
- Maintain and verify daily backup routines
- Help develop automation enhancements
- Design accurate system drawings, in each time period, adjusting to project requirements

Reports to:
Manager - Area Engineering IT
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Degree in engineering or equivalent technical diploma. Strong understanding of current engineering design, drafting applications and engineering data integration software packages. Minimum 10+ years’ experience in SPP&ID / AVEVA P&ID Administration. Utilizes current systems technology, tools and processes to achieve these aims. Good understanding of engineering practices & project execution concepts.
