Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our data-driven applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, quality, and security, enabling us to deliver next-generation Health Tech SaaS products. While healthcare experience is preferred, it is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for processing, transforming, and integrating large volumes of data from various sources.
- Data Architecture: Architect and implement robust data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes, that meet performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
- ETL Processes: Develop and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure efficient data flow and accessibility.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and software developers to integrate data solutions into SaaS platforms.
- Data Quality and Governance: Implement data quality checks and governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data systems for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and business analysts, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, pipelines, and processes.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure data security and compliance with data protection regulations, implementing best practices for handling sensitive information.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 8 years (Master's Candidate) or 10 years (Bachelor's candidates) of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing data infrastructure.
- Demonstrated Expertise in Python.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as Mongo.
- Expertise in data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Glue).
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration techniques.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex data-related issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Security awareness: Understanding of data security best practices and experience handling confidential information.
- Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate project deadlines and team collaboration across time zones
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Health Tech Experience: Experience working within the healthcare industry, particularly with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and data standards like FHIR/HL7.
- Cloud Technologies: Proficiency with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- DevOps and Agile Practices: Experience with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
- Leadership skills: Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the skill to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Travel availability: Willingness to travel to the USA at least a couple of times per year for collaboration and team meetings.
