About the Role
As a Cloud Engineer in our Tech CDIS, you’ll play a key role is to lead the development of a self-serving data mesh platform in a GCP environment, equipped with numerous capabilities to deliver a data product experience to internal customers. This position is integral to ANZ's Actionable Data initiative, focusing on the Data Workflow Plane and Data Product Catalog, and is key to achieving strategic milestones in the FY24 Data Mesh initiative. Additionally, it involves providing technical leadership and mentorship within the EDAE team, significantly influencing the direction and success of ANZ's data capabilities on a broad scale.

What will your day look like?
Low level Design, build, test and support a secure, robust and scalable Central Data Mesh Platform on Google Cloud Platform
Solving ambiguous and complex engineering problems
Work collaboratively within and across teams, Tech Areas and Domains
Utilise tools and practices to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, we place a high emphasis on Software Fundamentals
Implements a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality, and documentation.
Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
The ‘must have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Proficiency in designing and developing scalable and decoupled microservices to ensure seamless and responsive service interactions.
Primary proficiency in Python and experience with a secondary language such as Golang or Java.
2 years of experience with any Cloud provider (preferably GCP services like Cloud Build, Cloud Functions/ Cloud Run, GKE, Logging, GCS, Cloud SQL & IAM).
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with K8s (preferably GKE).
You place a high emphasis on Software Engineering fundamentals such as code and configuration management, CICD/Automation and automated testing.
Working with operations, security, compliance and architecture groups to develop secure, scalable and supportable solutions.
Proficiency in designing scalable and robust solutions leveraging cloud-native technologies and architectures.
Expertise in managing diverse stakeholder expectations and adept at prioritizing tasks to align with strategic objectives and deliver optimal outcomes.
Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences
Ability to integrate Kafka to handle real-time data.
Proficiency in monitoring tools like Splunk and other cloud-native tools.
Experience using Robot Framework for automated UAT is highly desirable.
Experience in handling and managing data effectively using Data Services in any cloud platform.
