Database Management:
Technical Skills
Database Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases in cloud environments (e.g., AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud DBaaS).
- Monitor performance, uptime, and resource utilization using tools like OEM, CloudWatch, or Nagios.
- Implement backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (RMAN, Data Guard).
- Optimize SQL queries, indexing, and database configurations for scalability.
- Troubleshoot latency and resolve bottlenecks in collaboration with developers.
- Enforce encryption, access controls, and auditing to meet GDPR/HIPAA standards.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply patches/upgrades.
- Automation & DevOps:
- Develop scripts (Python, Shell) for provisioning, backups, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate with IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Work with cloud engineers, developers, and DevOps teams to align database solutions with business needs.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical incidents.
- Documentation & Best Practices:
- Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and knowledge bases.
- Mentor junior DBAs and promote cloud adoption.
- Capacity Planning & Cost Optimization:
- Forecast resource needs and scale cloud databases efficiently.
- Monitor costs and recommend savings strategies (e.g., reserved instances).
- Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Experience:
- 8+ years as Oracle DBA; 4+ years in cloud/DBaaS environments.
- Hands-on with Oracle 11g/12c/19c, Exadata, GoldenGate, and cloud platforms
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in RMAN, Data Guard, SQL tuning, and scripting.
