Overview
A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As the Network Engineer Lead at MKS Instruments, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the network including the network engineers responsible for operations. You will need to partner with other IT groups such as the data center, server/storage and field services groups to resolve technical issues. You will be responsible for managing the ticket queue for all tickets coming into the network team to ensure they are being handled in a timely manner and within agreed upon SLA.s in this role, you will report to Steve Brown, the IT Director of Global Network Services, Steve Brown.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Managing the operational network team
- Produce operational KPI’s and other metrics on the health and management of the network
- Escalation of network issues and outages with to the IT leadership team.
- Build and maintain operations procedures and run books covering daily, weekly and monthly tasks for the team.
- Work with the Network architecture and engineering team as needed to provide support to the environment and any ongoing projects that impact or utilize the operational team.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel may be required.
Skills You Bring:
- Ability to manage a team of operational network engineers located around the globe.
- Ability to effectively interact with senior IT leadership to escalate issues and keep people informed of operational outages and production issues.
- 5+ years of hands-on managing routing, switching, wide area networks and other networking technologies.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, IPSec. VPN), Layer2/3 switching and VLAN configuration, Firewall security policy
- Experience working in a cross functional geographically distributed team environment
- Strong working knowledge of DNS, DHCP and IT addressing and management.
- Experience maintaining and supporting network infrastructure in a 24/7, On-Call model
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills to effectively work with all members of the team
Preferred Skills: (Optional)
- Experience managing Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
- Experience managing Cisco and Aruba routing, switching and wireless technologies.
- Experience with various network management systems such as SolarWinds, NetBrain, InfoBlox and ServiceNow for an operational ticket management system.
Supervisory Scope: (Optional)
- Responsible for managing 6 or more Leve1 and Level2 network engineers globally
- Financial Responsibilities: Building and maintaining an operational budget to include software tools and maintenance as well as hardware maintenance contracts and data circuit contracts.
