NETWORK ENGINEER

LOCATION: hybrid

We are seeking a part time skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, security, and infrastructure management, with expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network systems. The role requires proficiency in troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based network solutions.
• Manage network connectivity for POS applications, VTMS, FOIS, ULIP, RFID, and AI-based data analytics platforms.
• Oversee marine traffic monitoring systems, ensuring stable connectivity for vessel tracking and cargo operations.

IoT & Edge Computing Integration

• Ensure seamless network support for IoT-based sensors, AI/ML edge computing cameras, SCADA systems, and drones.
• Implement robust networking solutions for real-time asset monitoring, cargo movement tracking, and berth management.

Security & Compliance

• Configure and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure access policies.
• Monitor network traffic for anomalies and ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations, environmental policies, and cybersecurity best practices.

Incident Response & Troubleshooting

• Provide 24/7 network monitoring and rapid incident response for fire accidents, road/rail incidents, cargo spillage, and equipment failures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to resolve network outages affecting real-time surveillance, RFID tracking, and automation weighbridge systems.

Performance Optimization & Reporting

• Monitor network bandwidth, latency, and uptime metrics to ensure optimal performance for operational applications.
• Document network configurations, troubleshooting logs, and performance reports for continuous improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related field.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking credentials preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VPN protocols.
• Experience with IoT networks, SCADA, AI/ML-based edge computing, and cloud networking.
• Proficiency in configuring Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise network devices.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point), IDS/IPS, and network security tools.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting real-time mission-critical networks.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage network incidents in a port operational environment.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders across multiple IT and operational teams.

Preferred Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in network engineering, preferably in industrial, maritime, or logistics environments.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerized networking solutions (Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus.
