Job Overview:

We are seeking an L1 Network Engineer to join our IT support team. The L1 Network Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career in network engineering, providing essential support to ensure network uptime, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor the health and performance of the network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks).
• Troubleshoot basic network issues and assist in resolving connectivity problems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Provide first-line support for network-related issues, escalating complex problems to higher-level engineers (L2/L3) when necessary.
• Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as system backups, updates, and configuration changes.
• Assist with the setup, configuration, and installation of networking equipment like routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Respond to and log network-related incidents and service requests via the helpdesk system.
• Assist with network monitoring and reporting, identifying issues or areas for improvement.
• Work with the L2/L3 engineers to troubleshoot more complex network problems.
• Ensure proper documentation of network configurations, incident tickets, and troubleshooting steps.
• Provide excellent customer service to end-users, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of network-related queries.
• Participate in scheduled network maintenance, upgrades, and changes, under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist in the setup and troubleshooting of VPN, LAN, and WAN connections.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
• Familiarity with networking hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Basic experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds) is a plus.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Eagerness to learn and advance in the field of network engineering.

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

• CompTIA Network+ or equivalent.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required
• Basic understanding of network security concepts.
