Manager, H P C Cloud Engineer
The Opportunity
A focused group of leaders in each Tech Center helps to ensure we can manage and improve each location, from investing in growth, success, and well-being of our people, to making sure colleagues from each IT division feel a sense of belonging to managing critical emergencies. Role Overview
As Manager of H P C Cloud Engineering, you will maintain and support H P C solutions in the cloud using IaC, CICD, job schedulers, researcher pipelines, and cloud-native services. Automate low-value tasks to allow scientists to focus on high-value work, leveraging elastic cloud resources to accelerate workflows. Optimize H P C performance and cloud costs. Collaborate with senior H P C SMEs, Application Support Engineers, and research stakeholders to reduce cycle times, boost efficiencies, and enhance UX, increasing researcher capacity.
Ultimately, you will play a key role in implementing scalable and efficient solutions on AWS to support compute-intensive applications. We are looking for an individual with passion for H P C and motivated to provide worldclass H P C experience to enable research scientist to use the power of leading-edge science to save and improve lives around the world.

What Will You Do In This Role
- Deploy, maintain and support high-performance computing clusters, platforms and AWS managed services.
- Monitor and maintain the performance of H P C resources in both on premises and AWS, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Optimize compute and data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency in cloud-based H P C environments.
- Create scripts and tools for automating cluster deployment, monitoring, and management (e.g., using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, etc.).
- Analyze and determine bottlenecks in H P C cloud environment, including network performance and parallel file systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in complex H P C environments, including job scheduling, software, and cloud infrastructure.
- Document processes, configurations, and best practices for H P C workloads in AWS and Linux environments.
- Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director, as well as collaborating with other teams.
- Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (with relevant experience). Degree in other fields with relevant and extensive experience is acceptable.
- 3+ years of hands-on proficiency in Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and H P C architecture in a DevOps environment.
- Experience with job schedulers like SLURM, AWS ParallelCluster, GridEngine, PBS Pro or other H P C workload managers.
- Knowledge of network architectures and high-speed interconnects.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate assessments and reporting.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to coordinate with various teams.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
