PitchBook’s Data Science and Machine Learning team has a clear mission: leverage cutting-edge machine learning and cloud technologies to automatically research private markets and improve the navigability of our platform. The Machine Learning (ML) Engineer is responsible for using machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to collect a high-volume of data for the PitchBook Platform and surface insights for our users. This role requires a strong desire to learn and deliver value through scalable machine learning systems. A strong motivation to succeed is critical and everyone has the

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Understand the design and develop new Features and Services using Python

• Apply NLP and Machine Learning: Utilize NLP and ML techniques to create novel views of private industry data, enhancing decision-making, and insights
• Work with data scientists and understand the AI/ML based code written by them to transform it into the deployable, configurable manner using object-oriented concepts
• Extract Insights from Textual Data: Analyze unstructured data such as articles and conversations to identify unique signals of private company performance, aiding market trend prediction
• Collaborate Efficiently: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to automate processes for large-scale data, improving data management, and analysis
• Stay Informed and Lead: Stay updated on industry trends in Data Science and ML, actively contributing to the development of best practices and thought leadership
• Support Company Vision: Share our company's values and foster a positive work culture

Success

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related fields
• 2-4 years of experience with Python or other object-oriented programming

• 2-4 years of experience with building REST based APIs using python and
  
  
  

framework such as Flask, Django

• 2-4 years of experience with natural language processing (NLP)
• Experience using complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
• Experience in writing unit and integrating test cases using python libraries
• Strong communication and data presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable

• Experience working closely with software development team(s) is a plus
• Experience building scalable systems in production is a plus

Working Conditions

This employee will work in a standard office setting. Some flexibility with work-from-home is a possibility. Employees in this position use a computer on an ongoing basis throughout

the day.
