Overview

Embark on a transformative journey as Lead Data AI/ML Engineer - Vice President, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our Corporate Data Services function. You will be part of a team of engineers with accountability and responsibility for the data engineering. Additionally, your role requires effective stakeholder management, leadership, and decision-making to support business strategy and risk management.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Stand-ups: Participating in daily stand-up meetings to discuss progress, blockers, and plans for the day.
  • Model Deployment: Working on deploying AI/ML models into production environments using AWS services like Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Building and maintaining data pipelines using Spark and Python to ensure seamless data flow and integration.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring the performance of AI/ML models in production and optimizing them for better efficiency and scalability.
  • Documentation: Documenting processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with governance standards.

To be successful as a Lead Data AI/ML Engineer - Vice President, you should have experience with:

  • Experience: Proven experience in data engineering, AI/ML model deployment, and working with Cloud services.
  • AWS Services: Proficiency in AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions for data processing and orchestration.
  • Spark Framework: Strong experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Python Programming: Advanced skills in Python for developing data pipelines and integrating AI/ML models.
  • AI/ML Model Deployment: Experience in deploying and operationalizing AI/ML models in production environments.
  • Data Engineering: Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and data integration.
  • Domain Knowledge: Experience working within Financial Service environment
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering collaboration and ensuring project goals are met.
  • Educational Qualification: A bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty, or other AWS certifications related to data engineering and AI/ML.

Some highly valued skills include:

  • DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
  • Big Data Technologies: Knowledge of other big data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, and Snowflake.
  • Machine Learning Frameworks: Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Data Governance: Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data lineage.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Purpose of the role

To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
