L1 Network Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor network and system alerts using NMS tools (e.g., Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds)
• Log, categorize, and escalate incidents based on severity and SLA
• Perform initial troubleshooting for network issues, outages, and performance degradation
• Coordinate with L2/L3 teams for advanced troubleshooting
• Maintain shift handover reports and incident documentation
• Ensure timely ticket updates and customer communication for ongoing incidents
• Assist with patching and basic device configuration under guidance
• Track and report recurring issues to help reduce incident rates
• Maintain inventory and access logs for NOC tools and systems
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and escalate as per defined workflow

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) – or any institute attended
• Good understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking concepts (switching, routing, subnetting)
• Basic knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH
• Familiarity with network devices: routers, switches, firewalls (CLI and GUI)
• Ability to trace network paths using tools like ping, traceroute, and netstat
• Exposure to ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, or similar)
• Basic knowledge of network security and access control principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable with 24x7 rotational shift environment
• Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
