Job Description: We are seeking a Games Software Tester to join our dynamic team. As a Games Tester, you will be responsible for testing and ensuring the quality of our games before they are released to the public. You will work closely with developers, designers, and other team members to identify bugs, glitches, and issues that could impact the player's experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaming, strong attention to detail, and an understanding of game mechanics and testing processes. Key Responsibilities: Game Testing: Conduct thorough testing of video games to identify bugs, performance issues, and gameplay inconsistencies. Bug Reporting: Document and report issues found during testing, providing clear and concise steps to reproduce the bug. Functional Testing: Verify game features work as intended, ensuring that they meet the design specifications. Performance Testing: Ensure the game runs smoothly across different platforms, devices, and configurations. Regression Testing: Re-test previously identified bugs after fixes are implemented to ensure they are resolved and have not caused new issues. User Experience Testing: Assess the game's overall user experience, focusing on ease of use, interface functionality, and player enjoyment. Compatibility Testing: Test games across different systems, devices, and environments to ensure compatibility and identify issues. Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers and designers to prioritize and resolve issues quickly and efficiently. Test Planning and Execution: Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and cases based on game requirements. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of testing activities, issues found, and their resolution status. Skills and Qualifications: Passion for gaming: A strong personal interest in video games and an understanding of game mechanics, genres, and platforms. Attention to detail: Ability to spot and report even the smallest issues in gameplay, visuals, and audio. Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and suggest possible solutions. Experience with testing tools: Familiarity with bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla), test management tools, and game emulators. Technical knowledge: Understanding of basic game development processes, programming languages, or scripting (e.g., C++, Python) is a plus. Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication to document issues clearly and collaborate with the team. Experience: Prior experience in quality assurance or software testing, particularly in gaming or software, is highly preferred. Adaptability: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing deadlines and requirements. Knowledge of testing types: Familiarity with different types of testing such as functional, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine. Familiarity with mobile and console game platforms. Knowledge of game modding and community involvement in game development. Basic understanding of QA methodologies and the software development lifecycle. Previous testing experience in the gaming industry.
