Role Proficiency:

As a Java Backend Developer, you will independently develop high-quality backend systems and APIs. You will be responsible for building scalable, reliable, and efficient applications. You will guide and mentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Development: Design and develop backend components and services using Java technologies in alignment with user stories/requirements.
• Code Optimization: Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code. Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• API Development: Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for backend functionality.
• Testing & Debugging: Perform thorough unit testing and debugging to ensure code quality. Resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior developers and assist them in improving their technical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Collaboration: Work with the frontend team to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements by identifying and implementing opportunities for automation and optimization.
• Documentation: Write clear and concise technical documentation, and participate in peer code reviews.

• Adherence to coding standards and engineering processes.

• Reduced production bugs and defects.
• Number of reusable code components and modules created.
• Adherence to SLAs (where applicable).

Mandatory Skills:

• Java (Core and Advanced): Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and experience with Java 8+.
• Spring Framework: Experience with Spring Core, Spring Boot, and Spring MVC.
• Database Knowledge: Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• API Development: Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and Microservices.
• Version Control: Proficiency in using Git for version control and collaboration.
• Unit Testing: Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and TestNG.
• Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments.
• Agile Development: Understanding of Agile methodologies and working in an Agile team environment.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Good to Have Skills:

• Spring Cloud: Experience with distributed systems and microservice architecture.
• Message Queues: Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• NoSQL Databases: Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
• CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with Jenkins, CircleCI, or other CI/CD pipelines.
• Container Orchestration: Experience with Kubernetes for orchestrating containers.
• Agile Tools: Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence for Agile project management.
• Security: Knowledge of application security practices and frameworks (OAuth, JWT, etc.).

Experience:

• Minimum Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing backend architectures, APIs, and microservices.
• Solid experience with relational databases and SQL queries.
• Experience working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration is a plus.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Location:

• This position is open for candidates based in or willing to relocate to Trivandrum, Kerala or Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
