Job Brief
We are seeking an IT Technical Support Engineer with expertise in WordPress website and web application development. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for clients using WordPress platforms, ensuring they receive high-quality assistance in resolving issues related to website functionality, performance, and integration.
Responsibilities
- Client Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients experiencing issues with WordPress websites and web applications, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to WordPress themes, plugins, site performance, and user interface problems.
- Web Application Development: Assist in developing and maintaining web applications using WordPress and related technologies, ensuring functionality and user experience are optimized.
- Collaboration: Work closely with web developers, designers, and internal teams to escalate unresolved issues and implement fixes.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and common solutions for WordPress issues.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct testing on WordPress sites to ensure proper functionality, responsiveness, and performance prior to updates or launches.
- Client Communication: Provide clear and concise technical support through email, chat, and phone, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Training and Guidance: Assist in training clients on using WordPress effectively, including best practices for content management, SEO, and site maintenance.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver reports on support issues, trends, and resolutions, contributing to ongoing process improvements.
Requirements and Skills
- Proven Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Technical Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician, or in a similar role focused on WordPress development.
- WordPress Proficiency: Strong understanding of WordPress, including theme and plugin development, customization, and troubleshooting.
- Web Technologies: Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, with an understanding of how they integrate within WordPress.
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with MySQL or similar databases, including basic SQL skills for troubleshooting data-related issues.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a commitment to providing high-quality client support.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in an understandable manner.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Additional Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., WordPress Certified Developer, CompTIA A+) are a plus.
