Overview
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled IT Support Engineer to be stationed at a government client site at Panvel, Maharashtra, as part of an existing contract. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and smooth functioning of IT assets at the client location. While Level 2 (L2) support will be provided from our end, the IT Support Engineer will be the primary onsite point of contact for IT-related issues, troubleshooting, and coordination with the employer’s backend support team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of IT assets at the client site, including desktops, laptops, printers, network devices, and other peripherals.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network-related issues, escalating to L2 support when necessary.
- Coordinate with the employer’s L2 support team for advanced issue resolution and follow up until closure.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and system health checks to minimize downtime.
- Ensure timely resolution of IT issues by maintaining service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain an updated inventory of IT assets and report any discrepancies or maintenance requirements.
- Install, configure, and update software applications in compliance with client policies.
- Assist in user onboarding and training related to IT systems and applications.
- Support security and compliance initiatives, ensuring that IT policies and best practices are followed.
- Provide regular reports on IT issues, performance, and resolutions to both the employer and client representatives.
- Collaborate with client IT teams and third-party vendors for hardware replacements, repairs, and upgrades.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum one year of experience in IT support roles, preferably in an onsite support capacity.
- Proficiency in Windows/Linux operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting hardware/software issues, network connectivity, and peripheral devices.
- Strong understanding of IT asset management and service desk procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with clients and internal teams.
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices is a plus.
- Experience working in a government or enterprise environment is an advantage.
Work Environment:
- Onsite role at the government client location; adherence to client policies and security guidelines is mandatory.
