The Data Layer Team is where we build essential data platforms, data products, and capabilities to empower our clients and colleagues with high-quality, actionable insights. Our Data Layer Team focuses on creating scalable data solutions and advancing our data infrastructure to drive informed decision-making across the company.

As a Data Engineer in BCG’s Data Layer Team, you will play a critical role in shaping and enhancing our data infrastructure, enabling seamless access to high-quality, actionable insights for our clients and internal stakeholders. You will develop and optimize scalable data pipelines and solutions that drive BCG’s transformation into a truly data-driven enterprise. Working alongside talented data engineers, technical area lead, solution architect, and product owner, you will ensure data integrity, reliability, and efficiency across data platforms. Your expertise in building robust data pipelines, implementing best-in-class engineering practices, and collaborating on cutting-edge data products will be pivotal in advancing our data ecosystem. If you're passionate about crafting high-performance data solutions and driving meaningful business impact, this role is for you.

What You'll Bring

• 4-6+ years of relevant experience in Data Engineering role.
• Ability to design and develop scalable, cloud-native data solutions using AWS services.
• Understanding of modern data architecture concepts, including data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT workflows using AWS Glue, Step Functions, and Lambda.
• Strong Python skills for data processing, automation, and API integrations.
• Prior experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments in building data pipelines and CI/CD for data pipelines.
• Demonstrated experience with data models and pipelines supporting GenAI applications.

• AWS-Centric Data Engineering – Strong expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, Step Functions.
• Python-Based Data Solutions – Advanced programming skills in Python, developing robust, reusable, and efficient data engineering solutions; experience in cloud-based data warehousing solutions; familiarity with Snowflake is a plus.
• API & Data Integration – Skilled in RESTful API development and consumption, automating data extraction, and integrating external data sources into the Data Layer ecosystem.
• ETL & Data Pipeline Development – Proficient in building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows using AWS Glue and Step Functions, ensuring efficient data transformation, aggregation, and enrichment.
• Event-Driven & Streaming Data Processing – Experience working with real-time data processing frameworks
• Data Governance & Security – Knowledge of IAM, encryption, data masking, and governance best practices, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
• DevOps & CI/CD for Data Pipelines – Experience automating deployments with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring data pipelines with CloudWatch.
• Metadata & Data Cataloging – Skilled in data cataloging tools (e.g., Informatica) and automating metadata pipelines, enhancing discoverability and data lineage tracking.
• Collaboration & Agile Mindset – Collaborates with stakeholders, including business teams, product owners, and data architect, to translate requirements into scalable and effective data solutions.
• Problem-Solving & Optimization – A proactive approach to identifying and resolving bottlenecks in data pipelines, improving performance, and ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
