We are looking for highly-motivated Full-Stack Software Engineers to work on challenging social-impact R&D project on applying AI for Urban Mobility. This is a full-time, in-person role at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

This staff position will work with a larger team of faculty, scientists and software engineers to develop cutting-edge AI-driven technology solutions to support sustainable urban mobility. The project combines innovation, societal impact, applied ML and real-world applications, making it an exciting opportunity for passionate developer wanting to make a change.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable web applications to address traffic management challenges.
- Build dynamic front-end interfaces using React, enhancing user experience and functionality.
- Develop robust back-end systems with Flask, ensuring seamless API integrations.
- Work with SQL databases to manage relational data and write efficient queries to retrieve structured data.
- Optimize application performance for scalability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and urban mobility experts as part of an interdisciplinary team from IISc to implement innovative solutions on the field.
Necessary Skills
- Experience with Flask/Django for backend development, including API design and authentication (preferably JWT Extended).
- Proficiency in React, UI/UX design principles, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of full stack development, including databases, API integration, and relational database management (SQL).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a research-driven environment with active deadlines.
- A passion for solving real-world problems through technology to achieve social impact.
Good to Have Skills
- Familiarity with modern state management solutions (e.g., Zustand, Redux, TanStack Query).
- Hands-on experience with SQLAlchemy and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Experience with at least one AWS service (e.g., EC2, RDS, SES).
