DevOps Engineer

Position Summary

Redaptive is seeking a DevOps Engineer to work closely with our growing software development team based in India. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with Product Management and Software Development teams to provide financial, billing and energy consumption information in easily consumable graphical format to Redaptive customers and internal teams.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be using your DevOps skills on our AWS-hosted platform, as well as monitoring and correcting performance of Redaptive’s fleet of electric meters. This role will work closely with international teammates.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Support and extend the Redaptive DevOps platform which powers our APIs, IoT infrastructure, ML and data storage needs.
• Collaborate with Architect, Software Engineers, QA, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to design and improve systems and processes which support hardware and software deployments.
• Act as an escalation point to manage operational issues. Responds to active incidents and proactively works to improve our platform to ensure operational stability.
• Support and extend monitoring systems for production environments. Enable teams to manage and monitor their systems using tools such as Prometheus and/or Grafana
• Provide daily guidance, mentorship, and coaching to your team (2-3 DevOps engineers, to start with). Establish processes to ensure career growth and development of DevOps team/members.
• Manage priorities across various internal clients. Participate in agile development processes.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Implement and manage security best practices, including automated security testing and monitoring for vulnerabilities.
• Monitor and optimize the cost of cloud resources and infrastructure, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Automate repetitive tasks to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention in processes. Analyze system performance and implement improvements to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement and manage configuration management solutions to maintain consistent environments across development, testing, and production. Other duties as assigned
• This role requires to be available during USA day time hours to address contingencies (rotational on call model)

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, product managers, and operations.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
• Having SRE mindset will be an added advantage.
• Strong technical skills in AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
  
  

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or Science, STEM, or similarly quantitative field
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer with AWS platform.
• AWS Certifications: Associate level required; Professional is a plus.
• Hands-on experience of AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS, IAM, VPC and most of the popular services. Experience with IoT is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 year working with and maintaining container orchestration solutions- Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform. Elasticsearch experience is a plus.
• Experience in developing and operating CI and CD. Experience with CircleCI is a plus.
• Programming skills in developing and operating software in cloud environments (e.g. Bash, Java, Python and node.js), as well as knowledge of networking.
• Minimum 1 year exp. with Data heavy systems like Databricks and Data Ops.
• Having AL/ML Ops capabilities will be advantageous
• Experienced with security best practices and controls – preferred.
• Prior experience working at a startup or in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process is preferred.
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience. i.e. experience leading team of DevOps engineers.
