DevOps Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaboration:
• Work closely with development, IT, and operations teams to integrate processes, tools, and workflows.
• Foster communication between developers and system administrators to ensure efficient and timely release cycles.
• Automation:
• Develop and implement automation tools for repetitive tasks in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD):
• Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deployment of applications.
• Monitor and maintain CI/CD workflows to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
• Use tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible to provision and manage infrastructure through code.
• Manage and scale cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Monitoring and Logging:
• Set up and manage monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track application performance and availability.
• Implement logging systems to ensure visibility and traceability of application issues using tools like ELK Stack, Splunk, or Datadog.
• Security and Compliance:
• Implement security practices such as vulnerability scanning, encryption, and access controls in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Troubleshooting and Incident Management:
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to system performance, deployments, and infrastructure.
• Respond to incidents and outages quickly to restore service, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Cloud Management:
• Design, deploy, and maintain applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to ensure scalability and resilience.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance.
• Performance Optimization:
• Continuously analyze and optimize infrastructure performance to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement in both development and operational processes.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Expertise in configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Nagios, Datadog).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby).
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven 4 to 5 years of experience in DevOps or a similar role in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with modern development methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
