Introduction to team

Our Expedia Product & Technology division builds innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A unified, singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences for the traveler and our partners that drive loyalty and customer satisfaction.

The goal of Media Solutions(MeSo) Tech team is to spearhead advertising products and services across many Expedia brands including BEX, Hotels.com, Portfolio Brands (COMET & Hotwire.com), Expedia Partner Sites (EPS), and Vrbo. We help our advertisers identify travelers on EG sites, target specific traveler criteria, and then deliver the most relevant products.

As a Data Engineer III, you will propose, design and implement various initiatives. As a member of the team, you will work in alliance with global teams providing the technical expertise needed to overcome hard problems. We value rigor and innovative thinking in our development process and believe in the power of a motivated & agile development team.

In This Role, You Will

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology with business outcomes.
• Solve complex technical issues and conduct day-to-day engineering tasks.
• Share domain knowledge with cross-functional teams.
• Assist and guide junior associates in their tasks.
• Advocate for removing technical roadblocks to ensure long-term team success.
• Demonstrate leadership and positive impact beyond your immediate team.
• Design integrated solutions by combining applications, databases, and technology platforms (specifically related to data engineering, cloud data platforms and data models)
  
  

Experience And Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience developing data and software solutions.
• Experience in building data pipelines, preferably in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS, EMR, or Kubernetes/Docker.
• Hands-on experience with tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of both NoSQL and SQL databases, such as MongoDB or Elastic Search.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools, such as Jira or Scrum.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Scala, or Python.
• Focused developer with a strong sense of ownership
