Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Optimization and Data Modeling Engineer to join our data team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing complex SQL queries generated from Python ETL jobs and surfaced within Looker. You will play a crucial role in ensuring data accuracy, performance, and alignment with data dictionaries. You will leverage your expertise in SQL, Looker, and Redshift to identify and resolve issues related to aggregation and granularity reporting, create custom expressions, and build optimized views to meet our business requirements.

Responsibilities:

• SQL Analysis and Optimization:
• Analyze SQL queries generated by Python ETL jobs and surfaced in Looker to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
• Rewrite and optimize complex SQL queries to improve query execution time and resource utilization in Redshift.
• Implement best practices for SQL performance tuning, including indexing, query restructuring, and data partitioning.
• Aggregation and Granularity Reporting:
• Identify and resolve issues related to data aggregation and granularity reporting in Looker and Redshift.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across different levels of aggregation.
• Data Dictionary Alignment and Custom Expressions:
• Develop custom expressions in Looker to align data definitions with the canonical data dictionary.
• Ensure data consistency and standardization across all reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with data stakeholders to define and implement data governance policies.
• Looker and Redshift View Development:
• Design and build optimized views in Looker and Redshift.
• Create data models that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
• Implement data transformations and calculations within Looker and Redshift views.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts and findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 5+years of solid experience in SQL, particularly with Redshift or similar columnar databases.
• Must have extensive experience with Looker, including LookML development, custom expressions, and view creation
• 4+years of experience with data analysis on AWS required
• Working experience with Big data such as Redshift, RDS is required.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles and best practices.
• Experience with Python ETL processes and their impact on SQL queries.
• Ability to analyze and optimize complex SQL queries for performance.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with data dictionaries and data governance.
• Experience in identifying and resolving issues related to data aggregation and granularity.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
