Job Title: Cloud Database Engineer (Azure SQL – Senior SQL DBA)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud and infrastructure database environments.
• Lead and support Azure SQL environments, including performance tuning and optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on application migrations and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain database automation using scripting languages.
• Ensure security hardening and compliance across database environments.
• Deliver reliable, scalable database services through CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.

Must-Have Experience & Skills

• Cloud DBA experience (Azure SQL – mandatory).
• Strong experience as a Senior SQL DBA with deep technical expertise in:
• MS SQL Server 2005–2019 and above
• SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting
• At least two of: Partitioning, In-Memory OLTP, Resource Governor, Query Store
• SSRS and SSIS
• SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clustering
• Scheduled maintenance routines and performance metrics
• Managing large-scale databases (10TB+)
• PowerShell, TSQL, and Python scripting (Expert level)
• Security hardening and vulnerability-based approaches
• Experience with:
• DevOps tools: GIT, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes
• Building/delivering services via APIs
• Infrastructure concepts: Virtualization, Windows/Linux OS, Storage, Networking
• Modern engineering practices: Agile, Shift-left CI/CD
• PaaS, Infra-as-Code, Compliance-as-Code

Good to Have

• Familiarity with Active Directory (least privilege access concepts).
• Exposure to additional databases: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB
• Azure/AWS database services: Cosmos DB, MySQL/PostgreSQL Flexible, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for database orchestration.
• Cloud certifications in Azure SQL (AWS RDS is a plus).
• Understanding of Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud.
• Knowledge of native and cloud backup solutions.
• Exposure to Power BI and Azure Power Platform
• Experience in financial services domain is a strong plus.
