Cloud Architect - Cloud Support Engineer (L2)

Overview

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Architect and L2 Cloud Support Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions. The role involves crafting efficient cloud migration strategies, optimizing architecture for performance and cost, and ensuring smooth operations of existing cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cloud Architecture and Design:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Develop multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures to meet enterprise needs.
• Define best practices for cloud resource provisioning, monitoring, and governance.

2. Cloud Migration Strategies:

• Assess existing on-premises systems and design migration paths to the cloud using tools like AWS Migration Hub or Azure Migrate.
• Execute application re-hosting, re-platforming, or refactoring for cloud readiness.
• Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migration processes.

3. L2 Cloud Support:

• Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for cloud-based systems, resolving complex issues related to infrastructure, networking, or application deployment.
• Implement automated monitoring and alerting to proactively address incidents using tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus.
• Collaborate with L1 teams to resolve escalations and deliver root-cause analysis for major incidents.

4. Security and Compliance:

• Design and implement secure access controls, IAM policies, and encryption strategies.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards like ISO 27001, GDPR, or HIPAA.
• Conduct periodic security audits and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities.

5. Collaboration and Optimization:

• Partner with DevOps, application, and infrastructure teams to optimize cloud workloads.
• Implement cost optimization techniques such as auto-scaling, reserved instances, or spot instances.
• Document architecture diagrams, SOPs, and technical workflows for operational excellence.

Technical Skills Required:

• Cloud Platforms:
• Proficiency in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation).
• Expertise in Azure (VMs, App Services, ARM Templates) or Google Cloud (Compute Engine, BigQuery, GKE).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced skills in Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Networking: Deep knowledge of VPCs, load balancers, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native orchestration tools.
• Monitoring and Logging: Hands-on with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver, or ELK Stack.
• Security: Expertise in IAM, Key Management Systems (KMS), and securing data at rest and in transit.
• Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating cloud tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture or cloud support roles, including leadership experience.
• Certification in one or more of the following:
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
• Proven track record of successful cloud migrations and infrastructure optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
