What You'll Do
Avalara is looking for a business-experienced and financial analyst to join Avalara Global Analytics and Insights team and report directly to the Chief of Staff to the President. You will provide analytical recommendations to ensure development and application of Avalara best practices in critical and complex areas of financial and operational metrics. You will provide analytical insights that form the basis of GTM strategy, develop scalable models, guide new acquisitions, product and channel decisions. By combining an understanding of business concepts with knowledge of statistics and exploratory data analysis, you will uncover actionable insights and catalyze change for Avalara's customers, GTM teams, and Leadership.
This rare opportunity involves creative freedom in generating insights, team member management across multiple global teams and direct influence on our roadmap. This is a visible role will make a significant contribution to the growth of our business.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
As a member of the analytics team, you will:
Analytics Team Member Responsibilities
- Analyze data to identify insights for team goals.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making and efficiency.
- Partner with teams to translate data needs into solutions.
- Ensure data accuracy through validation and quality checks.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering, and other teams to investigate, present and recommendations
- Conduct deep-dives, optimize performance, and test strategies.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience analyzing large datasets and generating insights.
- Experience in banking and financial modeling.
- Curious, collaborative, and data-driven.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Proficient in Python, SQL, MS excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets); Power BI and statistical modeling.
- Experience manipulating, questioning, and interpreting data
