(IND) STAFF, SOFTWARE ENGINEER (APP)

Position Summary...

Must Haves:

8+ years of professional experience as hands-on Front-End Engineer and a proven track record of building high quality scalable mobile applications.

Knowledge of Mobile App Development with React Native and supporting libraries

5+ years of experience in JavaScript or React/Redux

A solid understanding/experience in building Android and iOS apps using native technologies.

What you'll do...

About Team:

LMD stands for Last Mile Delivery which is Walmart’s platform Spark Program and responsible store for customer delivery with the help of mainly Spark Drivers. It provides a one-stop solution to help Walmart expand its last mile delivery network by connecting Walmart Stores to most of the US population.

Last Mile has been made available as a Service for external clients (outside of Walmart Network). This team owns and supports a complex system which is responsible for delivering more than million orders and providing best of experience to our customer, drivers and operations. It’s built upon some latest tech stack and multiple experiences powered by ML models.

 

What You’ll Do: 

• Lead the discovery phase of projects to come up with the high-level design.
• Design and Architect the component for implementing pixel perfect designs that balance challenging customer needs with application performance.
• Working across other teams to collect requirements and articulate into the design.
• Develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices while leading internal technical teams 
• Lead the discovery phase of projects to come up with the high-level design by partnering with the product management, project management, and business and user experience teams. 
• Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
• Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams; partnering with cross-functional teams across the business; developing assessments of key opportunities; documenting project scopes; developing long-range plans and project timelines; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives within the organization; and resolving technology differences across teams through informed discussions.
• Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
• Supports business objectives by collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities; addressing high-priority initiatives (for example, business strategy, technical feasibility, implementation alternatives); identifying short- and long-term solutions; and leading cross-functional partnership.
• Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; bench marking industry against internal processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards and processes.
  
  

What You’ll Bring: 

• 8+ years of experience in Mobile Development (iOS and Android) with Source Code Management Tools (Github)
• 8+ years of professional experience as hands-on Front-End Engineer and a proven track record of building high quality scalable mobile applications.
• Knowledge of Mobile App Development with React Native and supporting libraries
• 5+ years of experience with React Native, Javascript, React, Redux.
• A solid understanding/experience in building Android and iOS apps using native technologies.
• Familiarity with OOP design principles
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• Superior analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude.
• Ability to perform in a team environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to interpret and follow technical plans.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Unit testing and deterministic functional testing
• BE/BTech/MTech/ME/ MCA in Computer Science or related technical field required.
